Keela is
the 3rd foal born out of Chriona on our farm. From the first few
hours of her birth, she has been friendly and curious –
an “in-your-pocket” kind of girl :-) Keela has been
handled on a daily basis, and comes running to the fence when
she sees one of us approaching. Keela, which means “Great
Beauty” in Gaelic, really is an appropriate name for this
sweet filly. Her markings are extraordinary, and she has the ink
spots which usually indicate being homozygous for the Tobiano
pattern. (Further testing results to come.) Already Keela is developing
an amazing amount of feathering for such a young filly. Her neck
has the beautiful arch so desired in the Gypsy Vanner breed, and
she is quite the chunk, another valuable trait in this breed.
Keela has inherited the sweet, delicate and refined head of her
sire, Dazzle Dance. She also has a heart shape on her back, which
we find so amazing considering her dam’s name, Chriona,
means “Heart-felt” in Gaelic. Overall, we have great
expectations for this lovely filly in the years to come!
Keela tests
Homozygous for both Tobiano and Black!!! We have just received
the DNS testing results for Keela. As we expected due to her "inkspots"
she is positive for Tobiano (TT). As a bonus she is also positive
for only the black gene (EE).
